~ BASIS FOR OBTAINING THE RESIDENCE PERMIT ~

According to the decree: Decreto del Ministro degli affari esteri 12 luglio 2000, “Definizione delle tipologie dei visti di ingresso e dei requisiti per il loro ottenimento”, the basis for issuance the Permesso di soggiorno per residenza elettiva can become the choosing Italy as a place to live, and also the purchase or long-termed lease of the real estate on the territory of the country.

For obtaining the residence permit in Italy by this basis, it is required to prove that you are a financially independent person, provided with housing on the territory of Italy. The document gives a right on entering Italy and permanent staying, and also for the movement within the Schengen area, but does not give the right on work. It means, that a person has permanent passive income. Meanwhile, the origin of the income does not play any role: it can be pension, rent, author royalties, comings from leasing in rent the real estate, which is in ownership – any legal source.

When obtained the residence permit for himself, the wealth person will be able to issue by the same basis the right on residence of his spouse, minor children and dependent parents older than 65 years old. It should be remembered, that the purchase of the real estate in Italy itself is not a ground for issuance the residence permit, the main criteria stays the financial availability.

Originally the residence permit in Italy on the basis of financial independence is issued for 2 years. After 2 years is prolonged also for 2 years by the confirmation of the grounds.
